For living the fast life, Cadillac has created what it says is its fastest model ever.

The 2016 ATS-V is capable of 185 mph, delivered from its 455-horsepower 3.6-liter V-6 engine. Besides its blistering top speed, it can zip off the starting line to 60 mph in a mere 3.9 seconds.

ATS-V ? the V designates its part of Cadillac's performance line ? appeared from under a sheet Tuesday night at a Hollywood studio. It is due to appear Wednesday at the Los Angeles Auto Show.

"It is the fastest Cadillac we have ever produced," says David Leone, Cadillac's executive chief engineer.

The power comes from touches like turbochargers that spin up faster and titanium connecting rods. The ATS-V is meant for the track as well as the street. It also incorporates advances over past V models, like a suspension that responds and adjusts quicker to bumps.

Leone says it's one of the lightest cars in its segment, helped along by use of carbon fiber for parts like the hood and front splitter.
