The 2016 Cadillac ATS-V high-performance sedan will be unveiled in November at the 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show, Cadillac spokesman David Caldwell confirmed for Edmunds on Wednesday.
The 2016 ATS-V will arrive at U.S. Cadillac dealerships in spring 2015.
The 2016 Cadillac CTS-V will make its debut next year, possibly at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show.
"You'll see the CTS-V before too long, but not in L.A.," Caldwell said.
Pricing, technical specifications and photos of the 2016 ATS-V are not available at this point. Still unknown is whether the ATS-V and the CTS-V will share an engine.
The ATS-V takes direct aim at the BMW M3 and the Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG.
The "V" designation is derived from "velocity" and also makes a nod to the classic Cadillac chevron logo, Caldwell noted.
"The V-Series is a small part of the brand," he said. "But it's an accelerant in terms of consumer image."
Caldwell added: "The next-generation of V-Series is exciting, especially because we can do it on two different car lines."
In the past, the Cadillac STS and XLR had V-Series models, but recently, the V-Series was limited to the CTS.
Consumers should not expect the V-Series to expand further down the Cadillac lineup, Caldwell said, noting: "There will be no (Cadillac) SRX V-Series.
